NATIONAL FAMILY SUPPORT NETWORKSUPPORTING FAMILY MEMBERS LIVING WITH SUBSTANCE MISUSE

Thanks to all you participated in 5km Sponsored Historical Walk

The National Family Support Network would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all those who took part in this year's Annual Fundraiser.

The 5km Sponsored Historical walk was a great success with many family members commenting on how interesting the event was. The walk began at the Home Memorial on Buckingham Street where NFSN co-ordinator Sadie Grace explained who the memorial commemorated and why it was place there.

The participants were then brought on a historical walking tour of the North Inner City of Dublin and the fine weather made the walk all the more enjoyable. Local historians Mick Rafferty and Brian Tracey pointed out many hisotrical points of interest along the way such as the Magdalene Laundries on Railway Street, the Dublin/Monaghan Bombings Memorial on Talbot Street and the Five Lamps on the North Strand Road. Participants were also shown the first office building of the National Family Support Network which was on Amiens Street.

The walk finished at Mountjoy Square and participants achievemnt was celebrated with music and refreshments.

All the money raised by the event will go directly into the Network's Bereavement Support Fund which helps to support families dealing with a drug related death.
